You cant even conpair the movie Rail Kings to a real documentry about train hopping.

    -----------------Rail Kings Plot-----------------
An irresponsible preppie, Preston West, is presumed to have murdered his parents for a sizable inheritance, so he flees to find the real killer, Phantom 13, a crazed freight train hobo. Riding speeding boxcars, Preston encounters hostile train yards, vicious railroad cops, hidden hobo jungles, mysterious Lacy, the notorious Baron and his colorful Hobo Gang. In a surprise ending, Preston finally confronts Phantom 13.

I just watched "Catching Out", and I thought it a pretty good glimpse into the life. I noticed there were Southern Pacific engines pulling a couple times, and this is from 2003; do they still exist in active service?
And one girl mentions her friend getting onto a caboose - how often are cabooses pulled on the rear?

Also, I noticed this one brief moment, which I thought was awesome, and I wonder who else noticed it. Check the pics I captured from it:

In those shots above, I think the train they're filming from is stationary, and the one the guy is on is the moving one. Amazingly.
Also, there were a couple guys in "Catching Out" who mentioned the infamous, rumoured "Seattle heat gun" - hahahahahahaha!

Way to screw over the little guy!

How would you like it if you made something creative such as a small film and you sold it for not much more then what you put into making it and I just came along a took it and made it free for the world? Would you not feel screwed over? But I guess that doesn't matter to you.

I understand what you are saying....
I bought the film myself from microcinema.

The fuckers who are downloading this wouldn't have paid for it even if the torrent didn't exist so what does it matter!
This is the only place I've "advertised" it...
It's a beautiful film and needs to be shared.
Besides, the film came out in 2008! She's made money.

Sense of ownership does not matter or apply to me, because NOTHING is OURS.
Had I made a film like this, beneficial to anyone willing to watch...
I would give it away. But hey, that's me.

I could turn around and say the same thing to you!

You posted an atlas and a software program. (which i am grateful for) Last I knew, both these cost money. Money that provides supplemental income to the owners who sell it.

Thanks, man, I've been wanting to see this.

Widerstand, I get your point, but if you take my case, I have no money to spend on things like a movie. If he didn't seed it, I simply would never get to see it.

I do agree that it's mostly a case of "get it for free or not at all", and i appreciate that you are sharing it for others who would otherwise never be able to see it (and at the risk of diverting the thread off course I'd love for Widerstand to respond to your mention of his uploads), but...
there are already threads for this movie
, where this info could have been posted!!!
    did you search this?!?

I am going to buy this movie later and not download it.
However its a pity people release their work under the copyright license so much.

Personaly I have only my photos copyrighted but I have also made somewhere around 10 albums as cd-r and tape release and those are alle creative commons.

People should use creative commons more

Well there is difference in my book to take an overpriced $80 atlas from very large software mapping corporation, and taking a film from a fellow train rider. That's the difference in my book.

"Nothing is ours" you say?... That's fine... I hope someone steals something of yours a then you can sit there and say to yourself "thats cool since 'nothing is ours'".

I guess it doesn't matter to you any.... I mean your just going to do what you want to do anyways.

The way i see it we are a community of train riders, and the tracks are a small world.... Its a good idea not to rip off your own.

Sharing is taking something that someone offers which is not the case with this torrent.

Would you take the dvd off of the wall of a store if know one was looking?

If I had a copy sitting in my house and I left you in the living room with a copy and you had the time and ability to copy it without telling me would you do even if i asked you not to?

If you wouldn't do that then why would you download it?

I'm not going to tell you what to do but there are more things going on with you download something like this then just getting something for free for yourself.

I mean someone poured there time and effort into that project and your ripping them off when you download it or host that torrent.

People in Hollywood movies...etc. get paid huge for that stuff and even if you download those films they still make insane amounts of money but with this we are talking about a girl who did this as a solo project.

Miraclesun aka Scott H. aka Brandon W. or whatever name you like to go by you don't think its at all a contradiction that on your profile it says "I'm pro-life I paint. Support the constitution. I regulate those around me by a strict moral code." so there's nothing in your "strict moral code" about stealing?

I agree and see the points of both sides but my personal opinion is that you shouldn't not take something that you work so hard on. With movies such as documentaries or low budget indie films they are starving artist who have little to no money like most of us just trying to either make a little money on the side. Take someone who makes music for instance such as myself. I spend alot of time writing music and make it available for people to download but when it comes to CDs I ask for alittle because we are all stuck in this agriculture of easy money. And even I need money for little things. If I had CDs out for super cheap first thing you'd think of is "Why buy this CD when the music is free online?" Well its the time and money someone has put into such projects to be able to continue making music. If you think about the person in the shoes creating such "beauty" why not help them in any way possible? I don't see any point in seeding or hosting torrents (other peoples art) if you did not get permission or didn't make it yourself. Like wider said "don't rob the little guy" But yes big budget films go for it being that they have plenty of money to cover the people who download it for free. People still go to movie theatres I believe so we can thank those people making it easy for us to download who do we thank for small low budget films if they are free online? Viva La Art!

@Veggieguy: I'm not sure how it is everywhere else, but here in Southern California, I've only ever seen SP units on local routes. If you check out West Colton, you can see some old SP units. Most are patched, like this

Ive been working on a documentry for a couple years and plan on trying to market it on my own, if people download or burn it i cool with that. It's a subject matter im very much into and passionate about and just are appreciative with the fact that people would want to go about watching it. Ive never considered myself an artist but i feel that an artist should gain enough satisfaction just from making w/e it is. Its like if someone painted something really cool and you made copies of it. If it were me id think it was awesome people would want to have those copies in there quarters even if i never made a dime off it. And as long as someopne else wasnt makeing a dime of it too haha.
