I got a gore tex bivy sack back in May that I travelled with the last couple months. I figured being gore tex the breathability wouldn't collect much condensation. Prior I have slept rolled up in a trap and condensation sucks. sadly the gore tex didn't seem to matter much and the few times I used it I got a little wet. I also got one without poles and having the damp bivy on my face sucked. It stayed in my pack unused after the trial period. I would have got one with a pole to keep it off my face but that one only came in neon green.

More often than not we're weaker, easy to subdue and for some reason in this society normally, if you tell someone that a person hurt you, you have to go through hell for them to believe you.

I think everyone needs to always remember to feel a little unsafe and stay on the side of caution , male, female or in-between, just for the sake of not trusting the wrong person and getting hurt.

Thoughts on Webbing as a backpack?

This post seems a little old so you may have already made your decision. I was in the store shopping for a new pack when I saw some webbing and had the same thoughts. I think that weight and maneuverability would be great. you could also customize it to suit your specific needs very nicely.

But for me the webbing that they had in store just looked like it would be a pain in the ass to deal with. what they had just didn't suit my needs, I guess. it would have been kind of all over the place and after i bought all the pouches to go with it, it was just cheaper and easier to go with a rucksack. I also figured that it would be a little "to much". I had visions of a man waring a balaclava standing in the entrance of Walmart waving an AK-47 over his head, screaming "death to the infidels", and figured that I would probably be met with the same reaction if I walked into town fully decked out in webbing.

what you show here looks better then what I was looking at in store, though. I think that webbing would be easier to stow and hide in some bushes then a backpack would be. all you really need a pack for, is to carry your shit while your on the move, right. I think it really depends on what your needs are, and what you want to deal with.

this is of interest to me.
up untill reciently i was alwase with a wheeled gear locker
vans are greast but the sheer volume makes you lazy - why unfuck your house when you can just curtain the fucker?
cars are best cubbify your trunkclothes, bed, spare, tools, toys. stash your blanket/bag quickly after you wake and BOOM! its a car again! then you blend in with the commuters.
but those days are over now i feel and im better off i feel - too much responsibility
so far i have been ok stashing my shit at my camps
though i still lug around a half empty pack casue in addition to my cleanies its got mu laptop till i decide to not need such things anymore

I usually try to put everything inside my pack. I have an old swiss mountaineers pack and that works great. But I have had to travel with just a jansport and a sleeping bag when I was younger and I also agree, it sucks. Just get a bigger pack and save yourself the trouble. You don't want to be a hurry with your sleeping bag hanging off the back of your pack, always worrying that its going to slip off.

I recently got some new Dickies duckcloth pants and they seem to be of identical quality compared to my Carrahts, and half the price. With the addition of them being U.S. made, I think whenever I am in the position to buy new gear, it will be Dickies.

those dickies duck pants are nothing like carharts, they are thinner.

I wouldn't recommend dismantling. It looks like you're intentionally smuggling and is an invitation to be hassled.

I just leave my knife in the pocket of the dirty jeans in my pack like I didn't even think about it. I've never had one confiscated.

Customs can confiscate anything they want to though, and you'll never win the argument, so if you've got a knife or anything else you don't want to risk losing you probably ought to mail it across the boarder.
