Just got a pot of coffee going,so bear with me.Found this site by way of whispersteam,and would like to see what kind of folks are out there these days.

ositivly ancient,I remember hitching and catching out back in the seventies/eighties.Loved the life.Hit all the lower 48,the privences of Canada,and as far south as Lima and Bogita.Took about 20 years off to raise a family(the last 10 as a single parent).Last year got laid off ,haven't found a real job since,but started working on things for myself and people(instead of companies) again.Currently being Home Guard in Richmond,Va.Building a small machine shop in a trailer(lathe,mill,welder,etc),and hope to have it done in a few weeks.Work with rescue dogs(former fighters),but will have to take some time off,it's getting to me(Would love to find someone engaged in dogfighting at this point,would "entertain" myself and the dogs with 'em for a bit befor calling the cops.).
I think that right now is a pivot point in my life.If I stay much longer in one place,somehting in me will die,and who knows;I might even become afraid.Going to get rid of the clutter of a life lived to fit in enough to make do in the current level of society,hopefully to find what is really in myself.
Towards that end,rebuiding a old truck to go with the trailer,and looking at maps again.The Empty Quarter of the US seems to be the best place for someone like me for a while,but as long as I get 25mpg out of the old truck(already road tested),don't know where I might end up.But it's always good to see and meet new people and ideas.
