Dartmoor is a small national park in England. When we say national park it's different to a USA national park. We're a small country, so there are towns, villages, and all sorts going on in national parks, but they are still lush green and beautiful. Dartmoor in particular has Neolithic tombs, Bronze Age stone circles abandoned medieval farmhouses and a prison that dates back to Napoleonic times.

Wild camping is allowed on the moor, pictures are taken from around, but specifically Hound Tor which was part of the inspiration for hound of the baskervilles, the Sherlock Holmes story.

The last photo made me laugh :P

Awesome photos as usual, cool to learn about England as well! Is that you double-fisting some drinks on the rocks?

yeah that cat means business. Despite visiting a lot of places my home country does nature very well and I doubt I'll get bored of exploring it.

that is indeed me with a beer for every hand

Hi @fruitisbad from a fellow Brit - I'm parked about 3 miles south of Dartmoor near South Brent - drove across the moor to a job @ Okehampton only the other day - set out at 7am thinking it would be quiet and there were cars everywhere (and obviously sheep and ponies), well I suppose it is summer ! are ye staying in Devon or jus' passin' thru ?

Possibly my favorite area of England. Thick woods for camping, pubs for banter, a really timeless feel when you hike to the top of a tor. Plenty of plump pheasants waddling around too...
