Hello everyone!
I'm amines, I actually joined StP over 4 years ago. I wanted to educate myself about trainhopping but since most of the info and stories were from the US I never had the urge to post anything, since I live in europe where I do my travels
I won't bother you with how this happened but I ended up with a two way ticket to the US (NYC) and 35 days (December to January) in the states. Since I don't know many people in the states (almost none actually) I decided to do a some travelling.
My plan is to go from NYC (I'll be stayin 3 nights) to Chicago andfrom there to Dallas by bus. And from there to go (most likely hitchhike)to cali, prob. check out slab city, wander around somewhere where it's warm. I've never been to the states before.
So if anyone's gonna be there TX,NM,AZ,CA and want to meet up or so I'm open to it.

I'm very looking forward meeting the travelling community ! I'll probably hitchhike or look for rideshares. Since I have experience in hitchhiking europe.

Oh oh oh, aaaand the biggest thank you to @highwayman for giving me so much info and taking time to help me figure out what to do and what NOT and most importantly he gave me my new name gypsy tears

So, if anyone want to suggest a route (I-40 vs I-10) give me some advice or meet, let me know.
Thank you

Sounds like an epic trip! And do stay in touch here during your trip in case you have any questions/problems - and hopefully you'll be able to meet up some people here!

Awesome!!!!!!!!!! Be careful in Chicago. Slab City is fun if you make it to Slab City check out the library, the internet café and the range. Have fun and be safe.

why are you going to chicago? do you have a place to stay there? it's going to be insanely cold there during the months you'll be here... i'd take a chinatown bus down to georgia or something and hitch the rest of the way across to slab city if i were you...

and yes! we have many european members, but not enough of them posting their adventures, and we want to see more of this! post your travel stories and you'll have a rapt audience!

Holy shit...

The fucking maluch....

well, I've hitchiked over 160 rides, 20,000km and 17 countries(in europe). I can post some stories. And I did a few roadtrips aswell in one of the smallest cars in the world and really old one :DView attachment 27092

@amines IS THAT A MALUCH??? right? Hahaha... That is awesome.

PM me when you are in Chicago... if schedule allows it beers on me.

@Odin yep, it's a maluch. I love that car.. how do you know about the maluch?
and yes, I'll definetly PM you.

@Matt Derrick : well, I'm going to Chicago because the cheapest way to get south from NYC was megabus NYC-Chicago-Dallas
When I come back and finish my exams I will defibetly try to write down some of my adventures

hey @amines , im in Chicago just got back from Berlin, when are you planning on being in Chicago and going to Cali?
i might be able to help you out if you want to take a different way - my friend and i are going to be rubber tramping and red jugging our way south then west at the end of december.

Oh I just want to say that I made it back home!
And it was amazing
Give me a few days/weeks till I sober up (I didn't drink during my trip)(but now back home everyone is "welcoming") and I'll write a story about it, pictures too!
