To the Squatians (and Matt),

Hello! I'm Madison. I grew up in the small hay farming town of Ellensburg in central Washington, United States. I actually met Matt Derrick (the apparent founder of Squat the Planet) because he came into the gas station I've been working at for the past year and he was wearing a Dungeons & Dragons hat, which I had to compliment. Further discussion of the trip I'm leaving for in a couple weeks and our mutual interest in ESL and travel lead to exchanging info so here I am, doing the suggested introduction.

In less than two weeks I'm flying to Thailand to take a TEFL course in Chiang Mai Sept. 23rd to Oct. 18th with the hope of using the funds from a part time online teaching job to fund endless nomadic travel. A long history and a lot of time had lead me here, and if this website could help with my travels.. Then let's do this!

If you would like to meet me in my travels, share information, or swap stories please hit me up! Oooor if you'd just like to follow my travels on social platforms...

Yooo Chiang Mai rocks! Enjoy! Chok Dee Guesthouse is the best for single rooms for 180/200baht per night (and can get slight discount for longer term stays) chill vibes, good wifi, nature in the court yard and cats and a dog on premise. Mohawk Bar is great for punk music and real cool travelers and locals and expats (tell them Julie says hi).

Curious how the TEFL course goes and how you go with finding work. I heard from English teachers over there that doing in person teaching in and around Hanoi, Vietnam was really great money.
