Isn't Yemen and that geographical area a place of crazy conflict currently??

With what is going on there I don't believe I would choose an island off that coast?

you're partly correct..the person who introduced me to the existence of these islands even prefaced the conversation that way...pointing out that Yemen is as you say dealing with violent conflict..but recognize that this is a group of islands far from the mainland with very little development therefore very little interest as a target for missles etc. (in my humble opinion)

it is an exceptionally beautiful part of the world from the few photos I've seen and bit that I've read

Yea I can understand that... from a geography/geology/climate perspective.

I just dropped in but I will do a bit of research on that later.
