i think the dilemma of "evil" despite god's omnipotence was solved by the advent of lucifer, for christianity. but the polytheists have gods who cause us problems as well as those who reward or benefit us.
consequently, i think i have a book for you - fiction, if you're into stories. it's a pretty good size, about 500 pages; one of my least-favorites from an author i very much appreciate, but i suspect it would be something you could find a good bit of meaning in. i'd offer to send it, but i'll be back in seattle by late feb, so i can just pass it off to you, let me know if you're interested.
