They're unloyal, so you'll have to have a way to keep it in a carrier or something at night, I usually would keep mine in my sleeping bag at night, but they're sneaky little fucks. You have to realize, the Egyptians bred ferrets themselves, they have never been wild animals (except, of course, the endangered black footed ferret that currently inhabits Wyoming). They're a cross between a mink and a weasel. So, they don't know how to survive in the wild. Basically; you lose them, they DIE. You have to take extra care of it, they're a bit high maintenance. Also realize, they live for 12 years. That's a responsibility. But they're a joy to have and are totally hilarious. Hope this helps. Remeber; nothing is ferret proof; only ferret resisted.
