while the left isn't immune, it really seems like the right wing is literally ALL about conspiracies theories these days. especially idiotic, antiquated ones aimed at people of low intelligence via youtube. i've been hoping for the alt-right to go full tinfoil and get really into flat-earthism. not as far fetched as it may sound!

The catch if it were to be solely artistic creation is that so much of the materials that enable said artistic creation would then go unmade.
