hi, I've been lurking for awhile, time to stop being a creep and come out of the shadows.
I've got a house, lost the bus in the divorce (ah well) but travel a lot in my little hatchback. Bit of an oddball. Try to DIY everything possible and stay out of the cogs of society. Next trip is to North Nevada to do some rock hunting in a few weeks. It'll be good to meet like minded folk n learn some things!

awesome! welcome to the family :)

i'm not much of a rock nerd, but it does sound like an adventure worth having, since i haven't done much exploring in nevada. what do you freelance in?

What part of NV will you be in? I will be In Elko county in a couple a weeks houndin around too. Maybe we will bump shoulders out there. :)

I'm gonna be up in Deino, NV. And the way things are moving it'll won't be till early Oct. Fire Opals are up there. Only place in the USA. Digging for rocks is tricky, you have to develop an eye for it. You can move 3 or 4 buckets of dirt to look in a hole and then when you shift through all that dirt you just moved, you find your rocks! Lady told me to take a spray bottle and mist the dirt- the fire opals will glint and it makes it easier. There are gem/rock maps online

Not much for paying fees heh. but it does give you a good idea of what to look for in those certain areas. I also found this link on that site which includes books and maps on places to go and what to find there. http://rocktumbler.com/books/

hi again. Free lancing for me means reselling/ making clothes/Palm reading & tarot.
You don't have to pay the fees if you live a pirate's life. Most of the mines aren't gated/fenced, and access is easy at night.
Hope the day treated yall good.
