Louisiana?

Me and a buddy are driving down to Louisiana. We're thinking about finding some work on a boat or in a swamp somewhere. Anyone have any experience with this or know the area and want to come with us or offer advice?

It's maybe NOT a good idea, seeing as folks are getting sick from the oil & dispersant,
never mind the wild life. Also ALOT of folks who live there out of work.

Maybe think of getting involved in helping people out down there,
not just going down to try to get jobs ???
I have family down there.

If you want to do fishing/boat work go up to the Northwest, Washington, Oregon, Alaska,
where there is PLENTY of work?

^ so agreed
giving your time to help someone is in my opnion better than a job

Right on,
If your really want to learn about Louisiana culture, the folks there
the best thing to do right now, post Katrina & oil spill is to volunteer,
help out and engage with the locals and NOT take the very few jobs that the
locals are fighting to get.
It;'s as bad as all the parasite folks who went down after Katrina to try to
get HUD/Government money, etc but did NOTHING to help the locals affected
by Katrina.

Saying all that,
There is alot of good stuff going on down there,
specially in New Orleans if your into squatting, music, arts, etc.
Just be careful, people get shot for NOTHING down in the city ALL the time.
Life is cheap there.

I honestly forgot about the gulf spill and all the people out of work down there. Think i'll go down to Galveston in Texas instead.

All this is old news and yes if you want to do water work go to Seattle, hitch to Alaska - Shit I'll be sailing there in a little while .. .
