Hi, all:

I've been reading this forum a lot the past couple months, getting ready for an extended, rambling road trip around the States. Sold all my things, got my bike ready, last day on the job is Friday.

Thanks to all you who have shared your knowledge and stories here! My hope is that when I learn something worth knowing, I can put it out there, too. Help the next person who comes along.

See you guys out there on the road.

Happy travels,
Stealth Yellow.

Yep, that's the idea, give and take...er, take and give in this case.

I'm not sure how many members of the bi-wheeled-motor-driven-rubbertramp variety we have here, but I think it is wide open for posts particular to motorcycle traveling. Welcome!

Do you have a spare helmet?

Yeah, I didn't see too much info about travelling by motorcycle posted. Maybe I can blaze the way a little. : )

I know of a few guys that have toured the world on scooters. Yamaha Zuma 125's. I'm tempted to add scooter touring to my bucket list.

I rode across a few states on a 50cc Chinese scooter. That was sketch as fuck getting passed by big rigs and even worse in the rain. Got hit 4 times before I hung up the helmet on that one....

Look up George the Painter. Writes for The Horse and lives a pretty nomadic lifestyle despite age. I have a buddy who I've traveled a lot on foot with who is doing a few trips while he's still employed then bouncing on his honda shadow in a few months or so I believe

Hope you have a good journey, I had several motorcycles last one was a 200cc Yamaha that got 100mpg put a lotta miles on then rebuilt it top and bottom end and it got stolen.

I know you didn't ask any but joining forums specific for your bike and general adventure style ones can really help you out. I got saved a few times when my bike quit on me just from advice I even had a guy who saw a post ride out and help me out one time.

Also a little tool kit, spark plug spanner, fuses, plugs and electric tape plus enough to take your carb apart clean it, and your air filter off and fuel filter apart.

Have a good trip.

I worry a bit about my bike being stolen. Or having things stolen OFF of it, like my camping gear and so on. I figure its just a risk I have to live with, just like everyone else. I try to manage as best I can but sometimes things just happen.

About your bike being stolen, did you have it locked up/chained or anything? Or have it parked in a sketchy place?

Oh, now that is awesome. Look at that cute little thing!

I know right, I just need to get my shit together and get a license ha

Anyways, stumbled on this about a week ago, thought maybe you'd be interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/motocamping

It's not super active but there's a bunch of info.

Edit* Sorry didn't realize I was bumping an older thread when there was a newer one on the same subject by you right on the list of newest threads. x_x lol
